THE WORDS "SHUT UP"

After hanging out with my friend late last night, I realized that he says "shut up" a lot, but he says it in a playful manner. This whole "shut up" thing is a pet peeve of mine. It's probably top 5. I never really talk about it because I try to contain my anger/annoyance, but last night was just too much for me. Even though he was just playfully telling me to shut up, I wanted to pinch him in the arm every time I heard him say it. I can't keep it in anymore!

This is what I can not stand. I absolutely hate it with so much passion. I think this is way worse than saying "whatever" which I also hate terribly. But I think "shut up" has much more of a rude tone. Like I guess it's fine if you're laughing & you're telling me to shut up.

For example, "Hahahah! Oh, you shut up! Hahahhahah!" That's fine with me. But there's also another one, like if you're just jokingly saying "shut up", that shit pisses me off. I don't freakn care if you're saying it jokingly, still. When people jokingly say to me, I swear, I just want to tell them in a serious tone, "No, you shut the fuck up!" But I just keep it to myself & run the scene in my head.

Yeah, it just angers me so much even though they are just playfully saying it. Tone & the way you use it when you say it matters. I think it's just really rude & disrespectful. Sooo, don't tell me to shut up or I might just tell you to shut the fuck up.
